Effective date: 2026-06-08 Β· No data leaves your device
The short version
What the extension does
Seller Scout runs only on Amazon product pages (amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.ca, amazon.de). When you open a product page, the extension reads that page's existing content (the DOM) β title, price, brand, Best Sellers Rank, Buy Box seller, and offer count β to compute an on-screen analysis: a demand tier, an "Amazon on listing?" flag, a seller count, and an estimated profit/margin/ROI. This reading happens entirely within your browser tab.
What we store, and where
The only data the extension stores is your own settings β your chosen currency,
default referral percentage, FBA size tier, the panel's collapsed state, and your two brand lists
("approved brands" and "blocked brands"). These are saved with
chrome.storage.local, which keeps them on your device. They are never uploaded.
What we do NOT do
- We do not make any network requests. The extension has no remote code and no backend.
- We do not use cookies, analytics, advertising, fingerprinting, or any tracking.
- We do not collect personal information, browsing history, or your Amazon account data.
- We do not sell or share data with third parties β there is no data to sell.
Permissions, explained
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
storage |
To save your settings and brand lists locally on your device. Nothing is transmitted. |
host_permissions(amazon.com, .co.uk, .ca, .de) |
So the content script can read the product-page DOM on those four Amazon marketplaces to compute the analysis. The extension runs nowhere else. |
Data retention & deletion
Your settings persist until you delete them. To remove everything Seller Scout has stored, you can:
- Clear the lists/fields in the extension popup and save, or
- Right-click the toolbar icon β Remove from Chromeβ¦, which deletes all of its local storage, or
- Use Chrome's Settings β Privacy β Clear browsing data for the extension.
Fee estimates disclaimer
Profit, margin, ROI, and FBA fees shown by Seller Scout are estimates produced by a built-in fee table for quick triage. They are not official Amazon figures. Always confirm fees in Amazon Seller Central before purchasing inventory.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Material changes will be reflected in the extension's store listing.
